Ingrid's hands clenched for a moment as her toes curled beneath her boots, preparing her mind for what was to come. The woman in front of her dashed out before Ingrid could get a word out, now was the moment to take action. Ingrid only a second behind followed them out into the street. The rioters were dense, making crossing the street no easy task.

A group took notice of the first two who exited and immediately targeted the small woman running out last.

The first thing Ingrid felt was a fist to the back of her head, "ack!" sending her flying into a trashcan knocking it over. Several rioters moved around to apprehend her by force. In a momentary haze as she fell to the edge of the curb, her instincts kicked in when she recognized the tactile feeling of glass under her hand.

"NO! Get off me asshole!"

She felt the tug as someone gripped onto her leg and another taking hold of her jacket. With a solid grip of the glass bottle in her hand, she shattered the butt against the curb and with a loud yell she swung it around, nailing the assailant grasping her jacket in the neck. No mistake that an artery was hit as blood spewed everywhere. There was no telling where Ingrid's blood stopped and the mans blood splatter began across her shoulder and face.

With Ingrid's offense, her first life ever taken, the other's moved to jump her.

The thunderclap of a Magnum Auto Pistol's discharge echoed across the street, and the nearest rioter to Ingrid had his knee blasted out. He keeled over in agony as the other rioters paused like deer caught in the headlights.
Pistol drawn, Cortes glared, anger burning in his eye.

"THE NEXT HIJO DE PERRO WHO LAYS A HAND ON THE GIRL DIES IN THE STREET LIKE THE DOG HE IS!" He roared, firing one more round into the air to punctuate his anger. He then swept his gun around, rioters leaping back out of the way of the deadly weapon and its deadly serious wielder. "VAYASE, YOU BASTARDS! IF YOU VALUE YOUR MISERABLE LIVES YOU WILL STAY CLEAR FROM ME! NOW RUN!"

Another deafening round went off over the heads of the crowd and they started scattering from the mad Mercenary and his associates. There were easier marks to attack and few wanted to lose their lives over three people.
When they had cleared off somewhat, Cortes gestured rapidly to the girls. "Vamanos! Before they regain their courage!"

Ingrid in flight or flight scrambled to her feet and gave a swift kick to the man dying of rapid blood loss, caving his nose in. "That's what you get asshole!" As much as she wanted to thank her savior, she didn't have the breathe or mind to vocalize the sentiment and ran towards him. Blood pouring from the side of her head and palm as she dropped the glass bottle. Ingrid was hyperventilating and enraged, the young woman had a deathly glare like she was ready to strangle someone.

Dropship R.C.W had touched down at the spaceport of Solaris Vll. Everyone was going about as a usual resupply and trade routine as the bay doors opened. Jaida walked from her room with duffel bag over her shoulder and made her way to the dropship’s mech bay. Every now and then she was either given a salute or was embraced in a hug by the different members of the clan on board the vessel. No words were needed to be said as Jaida went across the bay and went to her CRB-27B mech. Opening up a storage area in the left leg, she looked in to see that the emergency gear was still there which had food, water purifying tablets, a blanket, flares, and other essentials needed for survival if the mech was downed and unable to be used. Tossing her duffel bag into the compartment then closed it. Both legs had compartments for either storage or for transporting a small group of people since there was hand rails for them to hold onto. Stepping onto the elevator and pressing the up button, the elevator shook slightly as it then began to make the ascent. Her brown irises took in the sight of the mech bay one last time until she decided to come back to them. Letting out a soft sigh, the elevator stopped and she walked over to the open cockpit. Climbing inside and sitting down on the soft and worn leather seat, she closed the cockpit. Powering it up, Jaida strapped herself in not knowing of the developments happening on Solaris VII.

Slipping on her helmet that had her headset in it and looked at all the instruments and HUD display. It was reading green across the board. Taking the controls into her hands, she would turn on her mic and spoke on their radio frequency. “Fellow Brothers and sisters of the 133rd, Seyla is rolling out. Until we meet again either in this life or the next, This is Seyla....signing off.” Keeping it short and sweet, she began to make the medium mech move out of its bay and turned it to face the opened doors. Walking out of the dropship, everyone had lined up and watched their own leave the dropship. Rain was coming down making the day look a bit dark. Solaris 7 was known for having continuous rain fall on a daily scale. Moving out and through the spaceport, she was looking for any indications of the Mercenary group called Hammerstrike. Looking at one dropship to the next, there was so many to look from that it felt almost like trying to find a needle in a haystack and you didn’t have a magnet. Going down the rows of dropships and passing other mech’s, she heard over the radio that riots were starting to spring up across the city and was making it’s way to the spaceport. It was being done by nationalists of Davion. Information was streaming in that some of the riots were reporting in casualties and that some were spotting Powerman and other civilian model mech’s being used by the rioters. Civilians and Mercenaries were being asked to hunker down indoors and lock their doors/ dropships. But in that reports, there was a request for any Mercenary to help with controlling the riots.

Turning the controls, Seyla (CRB-27B ) went with the command as it then turned and faced towards the spaceports doors for mech’s to use to enter or exit. Pushing forward, the Medium Battlemech made its march towards it. With her weapons still powered down, she came up to the massive doors with a transmission coming in from the control tower. “Mechwarrior, state your purpose in Solaris 7 city with your Crab mech, over.”, “This is Jaida Heinz...I’m responding for assistance against Rioter mechs, over.” There was a pause from the control tower until she saw the doors opening up before her, then cam in another transmission. “Your cleared to go through. Please try to keep damage done to buildings to a minimum and good luck Mechwarrior. Control tower, Out.”, “Copy that Control, Jaida Out.” The doors fully opened and she went through. Once on the other side, the doors closed behind her as she made her way carefully on the asphalt roads. Any good Mechwarrior knew not to move around turns on asphalt to fast or you and your mech were going to slide into buildings or simply falling down to the ground. Opening up the hand actuators, she powered up all of her Energy weapons as she made her way through the city and torso twisting to look down other roads and alley ways. The sight of a Battlemech tended to make rioters that were on foot to scatter like mice when a bigger predator shows up.

Turning onto another street, she could see three people in the middle of the street with a good bit of a riot crowd moving away from them. From what she could see, it looked like the one, a man, was holding a possible gun and was yelling at two women. Looking up the street, she saw a Powerman come onto the same road carrying an I beam in it’s one hand actuator. It slammed the I beam against buildings and down onto the road in a taunting like gesture. Shaking her head, she flipped on the spot light on top of her mech, momentarily blinding the other pilot. She then activated her war horn as her targeting computer said outloud “Target Acquired.”.

Her targeting reticules went red as her cross hairs were on the Powerman. It wasn’t deterred by her mech and began to charge towards her direction. With the people still in the street, she needed to buy them time to get out of the way. Pulling the triggers, her hud displayed the bright blue beams from her Large Lasers and saw them hit both the Right Torso and left torso of the enemy mech. Then she swapped them for her Medium Lasers and pulled the trigger again with her four Medium Lasers shooting their yellow beams at the Powerman’s legs. Moving towards it, she kept firing at the Industrial mech and since it wasn’t a Battlemech, it’s Armor was on the light side and was primitive. The display of the enemy mech diagram showed its green areas turning to yellow showing that it’s armor was losing it’s strength and a couple of more volleys like that and it would strip it. Her hits was taking a toll on the industrial mech that caused it to have to disengage from battle with the Crab by turning off from the road fleeing. The rest of the rioters around them fled as well since they didn’t want to draw the attention of the Battlemech. Activating her exterior speakers, she spoke through her mic. “You three need a lift? It’s not safe out here.” Jaida stated as the two holding compartments opened up on the leg’s of the crimson red and dull grey colored Crab. It’s torso twisted every now and then keeping an eye on the area around them like a sentry.

"Leave him and get moving!" Cortes shouted to Ingrid "We have to get out of the street before-"
The stomping of a mech sounded and soon a Crab lumbered into view. Just as it did, a Powerman with an improvised weapon made its way from up the street.
Spying an enemy, the crab's warhorn sounded, a deafening noise that bounced off the buildings of the street. The howl of lasers soon followed as the crab ripped up the Industrial mech, and Cortes winced and dashed out of the way of the fghting mechs. When the Industrial Mech had been chased off, the battlemech twisted to regard them, and a female voice asked the three if they needed a lift.
"No shit its not safe here!" Cortes shouted at the Mech. "We're trying to get to the City Mech Garage!"

Risky slotted into her battlemech, BEDLAM. In the cockpit, where she feels most at home she lets loose. She becomes a whirling ball of chaos and punches wildly into the instrument panel, initiating the startup procedure. BEDLAM hums to life, and Betty's voice cackles in her ear. Risky modified the normal voice routines for the machine co-pilot to give it some edge. To give the popular namesake "Bitchin' Betty" some truth to it.

REACTOR: ONLINE
SENSORS: ONLINE
WEAPONS: ONLINE
ALL SYSTEMS NOMINAL.
LET'S FUCK SHIT UP

Risky grins a toothy grin. Her modifications never failed to amuse her.

Not much for following the letter of the law, Risky would normally be on the other side of a good riot. However, the ol' pocket book was gettin' a bit lean. She heard whispers of some kind of bounty for each rioting mech bagged on the streets. A rumor of a fight was all Risky really needed to get her ass in gear; but a rumor of a fight AND good money to be made? Not deploying would be foolish, and Risky, despite how she often presents herself, is absolutely no fool.

The moment the mechtechs in the garage radioed the all clear, she shot out the gate of the garage like a thoroughbred. She gunned out into the streets, barely clearing the clamps, 35 tons of Firestarter sang an earth shattering funeral dirge. Urban combat was Risky's bread and butter. The environment was often cramped, which didn't allow her to push her mech to the limit as much as she'd like, but she built a career off of ambushing the weak rear armor of mechs far above her weight class. BEDLAM's impressive top speed might go a bit to waste here, but if she was honest with herself, the extra cover was a comfort. She dodged and weaved down the avenues between high rise buildings looking for some decent fucking prey, and she was getting a little bit disappointed until she heard the familiar sound of high watt lasers discharging. She turned her mech in that direction and ran forward just in time to spot a powerman scrambling to get away from the crab that towered above it a few hundred meters away. She cut it off and fired her own lasers at it. All six of them. Moderation was never one of Risky's strong points. Her cockpit was washed with a comforting heat, and the lasers impacted the powerman center-mass. The powerman's pilot panicked from the start of another attack impacting it's armor, and slipped. Falling to the ground with an earth shattering impact. The mech was mostly intact, but the pilot seemed to run out of fight. Risky was bloodthirsty, but she wasn't merciless. She moved on towards the crab she had assisted, and from her external speakers came her voice:

"Fucking amateur. Knocked the fight right out of 'em. What's the situation? We hunting heads? Could use the extra fire power...and a beefier decoy..." Either she didn't notice, or she didn't seem to care about the man and two women near the crab. She scanned her sensors while waiting for the pilot's response.

Ingrid blankly followed suit behind the man and wiped the freshly rain-soaked blood from her brow, as the new rainfall encouraged the remaining crimson to spread down the side of her face, chest and into her new fashionable pilot suit as if the battle cherry had been popped.

As her hand relieved her face, her eyes opened to search the direction of the footsteps with rioters and civilians alike scrambling in different directions with the powerman revealing itself. She struggled to contain her pattern of breath as she braced for the inevitable... masked in the chaos and thuds, the crabs surprise appearance lit up the street with the reflection of the spotlight, followed by the steam and gust of wind as the lasers penetrated the agro-mech and the following volley from the firestarter.

A woman's voice echoed from the Crab and Ingrid observed the compartments open and paused, observing her un-named companion before responding.

Ingrid observed the personnel access elevator that they had exited earlier... but perhaps there's a faster way...

"We need to get to the basement where our battlemechs are! Can you take us to the bay elevator down the street?"

The guy replied by yelling at the mech and saying they needed to get to the mech garage bay’s, which was followed by the one woman asking if she could take them to the elevator down the street. As she was about to reply to them, she heard the sound of many lasers going off and it was followed by the sound of what sounded like a mech hitting the ground. Torso twisting in that direction, she saw a Firestarter Battlemech walk up to them. With her fingers on the triggers, she noticed that this mech wasn’t hostile. The pilot of it asked for the situation and if they were head hunting. Jaida raises an eyebrow when she heard that the Firestarter could use the extra firepower and a beefier decoy. With her speakers still on, she spoke to the ones on the ground first. “Hop in and I’ll take you three to the elevator.” As they did so, she turned off the speakers and activated her mech to mech communications with the laser tagging the Firestarters cockpit. “I’m going to be taking these three Mechwarriors to the mech bay elevator so that we have more firepower for this fight. After that, I’ll be hunting down the rioters mechs as well. Safe hunting Firestarter.” She then disengaged the comm’s link. Flipping a couple of switches, the hydraulics to the leg compartments made a low groaning sound as they closed. Life support in the compartments came online as she then moved the crab, heading down the street as indicated. Going from walking to running, it didn’t take very long for them to reach the area. Once the crab came to a stop, she opened the compartments again and said to them. “Here’s your stop. I’ll be seeing you three out on the battlefield Mechwarriors.” With them piling out of her mech and was all out, she closed the compartments and powered down that sections life support systems.

Turning, she went to engage in the chaotic fray of Battle that was spreading like a wild fire in Solaris. While searching out targets, a broad transmission came over all of the radios from the Fifty-Sixth Division. “This is the Fifty-sixth division, we are being pushed back and ordered to retreat back to the spaceport. Our Forces has reported in that Davion BattleMechs has breached the perimeter of their sections and are aiding the rioters. Reports are stating that the four mechs that are about is two Locusts and two Phoenix Hawks, that brings up a total of eleven hostile mechs. Engage at your own discretion. Fifty-Sixth division out.” That meant there was seven AgroMechs causing havoc across the city and with that being enough, they now had experienced Mechwarriors from the Federated Suns aiding them. This battlefield was growing worse and worse by each passing moment. While going further and further into the fray, scaring off rioters in the streets, she saw them throwing chunks of concrete, Molotov’s, firing firearms at buildings, vehicles, defense force and police forces alike. Moving to intercept such a fight, she was slammed in the right side of her mech by something heavy. Reaching her arm out and grabbing onto a building, she stabilized herself and moved away from whatever that just hit her. Turning, she saw her attacker, a modified Harvester AgroMech that had a circular saw on its left arm used to cut into buildings, metal beams or even the roads. It’s blade activated as it charged at her. Quickly aiming at it, she fired her two large lasers and two mediums lasers in the CRB-27B’s arms, striking the mech in the Right and left torso, causing it to lose balance.

With it’s balance off, it’s arm with the circular saw swung wildly at her, but she reached out with the right arm and grabbed the Agromech’s left arm by the elbow. Clamping down with its pincers, she pulled its trigger firing both large and medium laser into the Elbow actuator, causing the area to heat up and glow from each volley into it. The Havester’s right arm had a bucket scope that replaced it’s right hand swung and hit the left arm of Jadai’s Crab. Yanking on the controls backwards, she tore off the forearm with the Saw from the AgroMech and tossed it off to the side. Then she fired another volley of nothing but Medium Lasers into the Harvester striking it in the body again and it’s right arm’s shoulder. With the damage piling up on the civilian mech, it turned and disengaged the fight trying to flee from it’s heavier foe. As Jaida was going to chase it down and fire again, her computer let out a warning, “Lock on, Lock On.” Her dark brown irises looked at her radar screen on her HUD and saw another mech coming towards her and then she rocked a bit from three impacts from a large and two medium lasers. Turning towards the direction of the enemy mech, she was facing down with a Davion Phoenix Hawk. Pulling both triggers, CRB-27B Seyla Alpha strikes the Phoenix Hawk, striking it in the right torso, left Torso and center torso. One of the Phoenix Hawks Medium Lasers was damaged from the impacts. The Davion Medium mech turned and went running down a road off on its side. Tracking it on her radar, she saw what it was trying to do which was to circle around her. Charging forward a bit, she then turned down on a intersecting road and as she ran full down it, she slammed her Crab into the Phoenix Hawk after firing another Volley of laser fire into it’s side. As her enemy turned, she had her arms outstretched and clamped down on it’s shoulders and pushed it into a building.

Torso twisting and moving the arms of her mech, she tossed the Phoenix Hawk down to the ground. Moving over towards the mech that was now trying to get up, she brought the Crab’s leg up and had the foot come crashing down upon the head of the Medium Battlemech, crushing the head and instantly killing the pilot since the cockpit was now destroyed. With a victory, she activated her War horn once again with it’s heavy deep sound bouncing off the walls and glass of the buildings around her. Looking around, the Harvester had fled from battle and was gone. Activating her communications broad stream system, she said out loud into the mic. “One of the Davion Phoenix Hawk’s has been taken care of. A Harvester mech is on the run and was disarmed of it’s circular saw and is damaged.” Turning the controls, she began to move again to find another fight or even to aid in one that is already ongoing. Listening over the radio, she was hearing the reports of the damages and loss of life stacking up as she went back into the hunt for more prey. The urge for fighting in her clanner blood was pumping full of adrenaline and her heart was racing for the thrill of combat and won’t be quenched until she gotten more kills, the battle was over or if she was killed.

Duke's thunderbolt strode out into the streets of Solaris, it's brown and yellow desert camo pattern sticking out like a sore thumb in the urban environment. His eyes scanning the streets to try to get a handle on the situation, he keys into the comm channel. "This is Mechwarrior Gerhardt to any friendlies in the vicinity of the mechbays. I've got 65 tons of riot suppression here. Just need some hostiles to point it at. Anyone got eyes on some targets?"

Just as Tamara was about to head out into the city on her two weeks of vacation, it seemed as though everyone inside the Mech Bay began rushing around; she could hear radios going off nearby and saw the inspector who'd cleared everything so that she could keep her Vindicator inside the Mech Bay. "Inspector Shinoski!" she called out to him, whistling several times to get his attention.

Waving him over, she asked him what was going on inside Solaris City. "Riot, by the sounds of it," he told her, keeping one hand on a radio headset and the other pointing out orders and directions to others. "Multiple mech and foot rioters on the city streets in multiple locations--"

"In other words, another night in town, huh?" Tamara said, deadpan as she began rushing back to the elevator which would take her up to the cockpit of her Vindicator. "Inspector," she called out, "get some tech up top to help me get strapped into my mech; I'm going out there!" Seeing a thumbsup from the inspector, she grinned back as the elevator opened and he called out to her, "They'll be waiting; good luck out there!"

Jumping into the elevator, she hit the level where the access area to the Vindicator's cockpit was located and rode the mighty column upstairs, going over in her mind what the possibilities of actions outside in the city were. Its' times like this I wish I were still a goddamned Colonial Marshal, she muttered as the elevator quickly took her up into the Mech Bay where her Vindicator was at, going over the fast startup procedures in her head. A regular startup, she knew, took about five to ten minutes but she also knew there were shortcuts one could take in order to speed up the start process, procedures that she knew in her mind wouldn't result in catastrophes for both mech and pilot.

Reaching the Access Arm that led to the cockpit, Tamara took her off brown bomber jacket, an heirloom of her father's given to her following his passing, and handed it to a technician; as they put it into a storage locker, she saw the other techs prepping the cockpit for entry. "Thanks fellows; they don't pay you guys enough," Tamara said to them as she climbed inside and began stripping down to shorts and a long-sleeve shirt with the sleeves rolled up; once she was dressed and had her boots back on, she hopped into the cockpit and began going through the startup procedures, watching every gauge and panel, making sure she didn't skip a startup procedure point. "Okay, internals online, check," she whispered, pausing as one of the techs handed her her helmet; slipping it on and fastening it tight, she continued on. "Weapons online, check....computer targeting systems, check....reactor, check....communications and comm beacons, check," a constant stream of comments marking steps in the startup procedures.

Finally, she heard the words every mechwarrior loves to hear...."All systems green, all systems green. Mech operations ready," with - in her case - background music coming up, an old earth tune she loved....

Chuckling at the music selection, Tamara hit the comm switch for the outside Mech Bay. "Inspector, how soon before the doors open?" She wanted to get into the fight but more importantly she knew there other mechs out there and a friendly mech could be a lifesaver if the cards fell down right.

"Doors opening now," Inspector Shinoski replied, adding, "Good luck."

As she marched out away from the bay and into the city proper, she flipped the radio switch on and listened intently to the situation inside Solaris City, all the while watching to make sure she didn't injure anyone in the process. Suddenly she heard another mechwarrior call out for assistance; switching frequencies on the fly, she keyed her mic and spoke. "Mechwarrior Gerhardt, this is Mechwarrior Blackmore broadcasting in the clear. I just left the Mech Bay and am approaching the city proper. I understand you're in need of assistance; give me your beacon position and I'll rendezvous to your location, over," repeating her message once more as she drew closer to Solaris City, leaving the channel open in case of a reply....

(Continues from Another Day in the Shatterdome)

With the gates fully open from the Spaceport, Cerberus Lance walked out through it and towards the field of Operations, the cities Neutral zone. Their Lance’s Drone flew high in the sky updating the map’s and triangulating with the sensors of the friendly mech’s that were around the city. It was now showing them areas that had red triangles that indicated enemy mech’s and where they were heading. Activating the comm’s with the other friendly unit’s, he spoke up. “This is Castle of Hammerstrike, Cerberus Lance is moving in to give support. We have an eye in the sky and updating your map’s now.” The friendly Thunderbolt codenamed Gerhardt and the Vindicator codenamed Rainbow Night’s showed that they had a Locust, and two Powermen mech’s three city blocks North of their current position. “Gerhardt and Rainbow Night’s, you have three mech’s due North of your positions. We are going to leave two of our mech’s here at the Spaceport to make sure none of the rioters get through. Alyssa and Michael, you two are staying to defend the spaceport. Derrick, your with me. Time to earn our pay people.” Breaking out of formation, the Thunderbolt codenamed Bischof and the Rifleman codenamed Disco marched into the city. Their drone began pinging more and more red triangles showing that they were now pairing up in groups of a two and two three’s. Each group had an experienced Mechwarrior amongst the civilian mechs.

One of the group’s of three (Phoenix Hawk and two powermen) was advancing towards the location that a friendly Firestarter codenamed BEDLAM was operating in while a friendly Crab codenamed Seyla was advancing after a Harvester and a Locust. Speaking again, he spoke. “BEDLAM, be advised you got three medium mechs coming to your position. Bischof and Disco are on our way to give you a hand, but it will take us time to get to you.” The two heavy mech’s began marching through the streets as their drones kept up with it’s job on tracking all enemy targets. It began to register vehicles now, showing them as little squares while those on foot were coming up as tiny dots on the screens. A transmission came in over the radio frequency from the security forces. ”Friendly Mechwarriors, Be advised that the rioters are hijacking armed armor personnel vehicles. It’s getting worse down here.” Information on the vehicles that were hijacked went from green to red squares across the city. It was showing twelve red squares and red dots that Dietrich didn’t have time to count cause it was so many. It was a war zone in the streets of Solaris, one that the Mercenaries needed to contain and disperse it before there is nothing left of the city but flaming ruins.

"Copy that, Hammerstrike appreciate the heads up." Duke said, glad to have some sort of coordination. He keyed in the other mechwarrior broadcasting to him as his mech wheeled around to head in the direction of the hostiles. "Blackmore, was it? Whaddya say we give these rioters the ol' runaroud? I'll approach head-on and keep them occupied, you swing wide and hit'em from behind. They aren't professionals, so that should break their will to fight pretty quick."

His eyes scanned the streets as he moved. Most of the rioters, no matter how angry they were, knew enough to get out of the way. But some were just stupid or unreasonable enough that it was slower going than he was used to. He was also acutely aware that his attention was divided between looking out for hostiles, and trying not to step on anyone. The circumstances weren't exactly ideal for a fight. But then, they never were.

Kneeling before a make shift shrine inside of her room, the commander of the 95th Royal Black Dragoons Tai-i Masumi Haru was doing a mixture of meditating and praying while Incense was burning and weaving trails of scented smoke into the air. With her hands resting on the tops of her thighs, she had her head bowed slightly and eyes closed. Soothing flute music was playing as she sat there. A knocking on her door stirred her from her solemn state. Standing up, she walked over to the door and opened it. Standing before her was one of the administrators for her company with a piece of paper held out to her and said, “You need to read this sir.” Waving him off and taking the paper, her eyes skimmed over the lines of text, seeing it was transmissions of what was going on in the neutral zone of the city of how rioters broke out and Davion Mechwarriors aiding the civilians in the field of chaos instead of trying to stop them. Crushing the paper and throwing it across her room, she peeled her tank top and pants off so that her underwear was the only thing left on. Going to her one storage box, she pulled out her cooling vest and slipped it on over her body that covered the front and her back of her torso. Out on the border was her Scout Lance of two light 30 ton Hitman mechs, a 40 ton medium Strider BattleMech and commanded by a 55 ton medium Wolverine mech. With the numbers stacked, the lights wouldn’t stand a real chance of the increasing numbers against them if the riots decided to go for the Draconis Combine border into their districts. Turning off the flute music, she activated a music clip that was fed into the PA system. The sound of war drums, a sound used by her for when immediate deployment of the Lances was called for in times of emergency, played throughout the Company’s base.

Men and women dropped what they were doing and sprang to action to go to their stations or went rushing for the mech bays. Masumi Haru was no exception to this as she ran from her room through the different halls and went sprinting for her Hatamoto-Chi. Climbing up onto her elevator and hitting the upwards button, she stood there looking at everyone as they worked like an oiled machine and not going out of step or freezing up out of panic. Once it stopped, she climbed into the open cockpit of her Assault mech. Taking her seat and closing the cockpit, she turned on all the consoles and the reactor bringing the command mech online. She heard her computer read out the status read out for it.

Kyō, doragon wa me o samashi, chi o sagashite imasu.” (All units, this is your commander. The riots have been reported in Solaris Vll and threatened to break into any border. The units of the Davion army have decided to combine those who want to harm everyone on this planet. Protecting the people of Draconis Combine is our duty, our rights and our responsibility. Today, the dragon wakes up and is searching for blood.) A silence was filled in the mech bays as Mech’s and tanks powered up ready to move out. Speaking again, her voice gotten bitter and cold. “95-kai roiyaruburakkudoragonzu, sore wa sore ga motomeru mono o doragon ni ataeru toki ga kimashita.” (95th Royal Black Dragons, it's time to give the dragon what it wants.) An uproar of everyone yelling a war cry was heard as she walked her mech out of it’s bay holding tightly to it’s sword in it’s right hand. Turning and straightening her mech towards the Base’s Mech bay doors, her Lances mechs stood just outside of their bays facing each other as she moved past them and each mech she passed fell into formation behind her. The heavy doors of the mech bay slide to the sides opening for them and once fully opened, she had her mech run out with everyone following her lead.

The C3 computers linked up with the Command consoles computers in the Cyclops in her Lance, the Orion in the Medium Lance and Wolverine of the Scout Lance and then connected to the Command frequency deemed as the friendly channel of the Mercenary’s out in the city. As the mechs of the Draconis Combine Company moved through their domain, the Friendly channel gave an update to everyone who can hear them. ”All Unit’s, mech deployment update: Mech’s of the Draconis Combine have come online and are marching towards the Neutral zone border....(the person talks away from the mic) who invited the filthy Draconis Combine to this fight? Are they friend or foe..what? My mic is still live and they can hear me? Oh shit...” Tai-i Haru’s eye Twitched out of annoyance as she patched into the frequency and spoke. “This is Captain Haru, Commander of the 95th Royal Black Dragoons, we are coming to give our assistance with the issue that seems to be not so contained by your Law enforcement and by the Davion Military. I will over look your statement this one time. Kotetsu, Out.” Then she turned off her mic for that frequency, but kept an ear on it as she listened to thedifferent reports coming in from different Mechwarriors and by the task forces spread out across the city. Coming to the border and linking up with the Scout Lance, she turned on her mic and began giving out the orders. “Doragonzu no tsume, your Lance will go to the Spaceport and secure the area. Doragon'ai, your Lance will remain here and defend the Border line of our district. Gyō burēkā, we are going Hunting in the neutral zone.” A confirmation came through her comm’s as the Medium Lance broke away and went running for the spaceport where they linked up with the two mechs from Hammerstrike while the Scout Lance stood in position at the border patrolling. Her assault Lance consisting of her Hatamoto-Chi Shin, a Cyclops and two Akuma Assault mechs began walking into the city with their heavy feet slamming the ground.

The Fyrdman stepped onto the streets, rotary cannon slowly spinning, sensors sweeping for hostiles. From his seat in the Heavy Mech, Cortes' steely gaze swept the streets. His com was awash with cocksure mechwarriors all claiming how they were ready to battle, and he largely ignored them. He had more pressing issues to deal with.
Fyrdman twisted its torso to regard the Blackjack following it.
"Enough Battlemechs here to hold down the fort. We will push. Chica, you are on fire support. Follow behind me and shoot what I shoot. We march towards "The Black Hills" district."
Triple checking his weapons, Cortes turned the Fyrdman back towards the street and set the machine on a steady jog northwards.
"No collateral damage. Avoid killing when you can. We are law enforcement, comprende? No point in arresting the dead." He added as he kept one eye on his Battlemech's map display. From time to time, Fyrdman would slow and torso twist to peer down suspiciously wide alleys, then resume speed when Cortes was certain it was clear.
Soon enough, however, the two had a fight on their hands, as a lance of Harassers whipped around a corner and leveled their SRMs at the oncoming mechs.
"¡Cuidado!" Cortes called out in warning to Ingrid as he swiftly strafed, popping a Harrasser like a hydrogen balloon with a burst of his RAC while sidestepping most of the SRMs, catching two missles in the torso of the Fyrdman.

Dark Parliament pushed out from the elevator to position 3, left flank of the Fyrdman in front of her. Ingrid gave an overly loud "COPY" to Cortes as she found she found herself adjusting in on the situation in front of her as light amplification engaged, keeping track of her recital. The pain on the rear of her skull vanished as she took in the environment like a breath of fresh air.

She quickly reacted, maybe out of pre-meditated training, or maybe out of nervous adrenaline and cycled her two auto-cannons atop the second harasser that came around the corner behind the fireball that erupted in front of it. The second harasser was ripped apart and flipped, flying onto the opposite corner shop.

Ingrid paused for a moment stunned (I CAN do this, I AM doing this) she whispered to herself. She searched the rear of the Fyrdman as if it could speak, waiting for an acknowledgement or instruction.

The chase after the Harvester and Locust continued with her map now updating with the positions of different enemies and allies. With the international zone becoming crowded with “Allies”, the Davion mech and it’s bit slower industrial mech fled from it and led Jaida into the Black Hills sector, but didn’t show any signs of them stopping. Lining up her shots with the back of the civilian mech, she pulled the triggers. Her Crab’s arms and the barrels of the medium lasers had steam coming off the mech as the laser’s fired. Cutting a path through the heavy rain fall and striking the back of the mech, burning holes through the light armor in the back. The sudden impact and it’s engine and heat sinks took a heavy hit causing it to fall forward onto the asphalt of the road. Not stopping, she kept chasing after the Locust. It was heading for the Mansions of the Davion sector on the hills. Looking over the paths it was taking, the pilot of the Locust was heading for the Cathay sector. Narrowing her eyes a bit, she put her feet into the pedals causing the crab to sprint. When she was starting to pass a street with rows of businesses, her HUD display showed a couple of beams of medium lasers go past her and when she torso twisted, she saw two Galleon GAL-100’s trying to get a fix on her. She was out of range for their pairs of small Lasers. Slowing down on the other side, Jaida turned the mech fully around and stood there for a few moments and what she expected happened. The two support vehicles drove to the intersection and was now being aimed by the Crab’s firing systems, getting a solid lock on the side of the one and she pulled the triggers firing the two large lasers and medium lasers in the arms striking it.

From the hits, black smoke began to pour out of the now dead Galleon. It’s partner Galleon turned it’s medium laser and fired it, striking her on the left torso. Fixing her aim, she fired all four medium lasers into it and crippling it. Looking at her radar, she didn’t see the triangle of the Locust anymore. Growling to herself, she swung her mech around and began running again. As she was on the move, she saw green triangles with now two red squares on her map to the south of her. Since they were facing two Harassers, she knew the heavier tonnage mechs could deal with them. Following the path the Locust was last seen going, she soon found herself at the Liao border where a Liao Scorpion tank sat with a massive hole that consumed most of one side and up to the turret. Walking slowly up to it, she saw it was a Ammo rack explosion. Everyone inside the tank was dead. Going over and away from the tank, she slowly advanced forward torso twisting to look down each street until she caught sight of the Davion Locust fighting another Locust from the Liao Forces. Turning to face her target, she charged at it. Opening the pincers of her hands, she slammed the arms into it and grabbing the torso of the Locust and rammed it into a building. Holding it there, she aimed the Medium Lasers on her head and torso, she fired into it over and over again. Letting go of the mech, she stepped away from the Locust and it didn’t move. Rebar from the ferrocrete impales the body and wrapped around it keeping the light mech in place and stuck. Limping over to her, the Liao Locust spoke into her headset’s ear piece. “Thank you for the assistance Mercenary. It caught me off guard.” She didn’t reply to it as she turned around and began moving back to the Black Hill district to deal with the problem of the rioters and their Allie Mechwarriors directly.

Duke swore quietly to himself as he brought his Thunderbolt down the streets, moving at a steady pace towards the reported locations of the mechs in his vicinity. Combine forces...great. The -last- thing he needed was for this riot to turn into an all-out warzone, and those up-jumped samurai never could be trusted to keep from escalating things with the Davions. He shook his head, setting his political concerns aside for more immediate issues.

Turning a corner, he'd finally found them. A locust and two powermen, just as ordered. They were waiting for him, of course (downsides of a heavy mech, they always know you're coming), but that wasn't much concern. Bringing up his mech's left arm he let loose with the LB 10-X, putting a standard autocannon round downrange, and connecting with the Locust's torso. The thunderous report of the cannon scattered the rioters at his feet, freeing the mechs on this street to maneuver. The shell tore into the locust's armor, the force of the impact staggering the light mech, but it remained standing. The locust returned fire, it's medium laser scoring a molten groove in his armor as the light mech begins backing away. The pair of industrial mechs with it follow suit, lacking any real weapons of their own, and unwilling to get within striking distance of a mech twice their size.

Duke followed up the LB 10-X shot with a volley from his own medium lasers as he advanced on the opponents. The lasers seared into the locust, evaporating what remained of it's already thin armor and wreaking havoc with it's internals. In the smoke and flare of explosions inside the mech, he barely made out it's pilot rocketing away as he ejected and his mount toppled over into the street. Inside the cockpit of his mech, Duke held up a single finger "That's one." He said to himself, turning with grim determination towards the now-retreating industrials. They had a head-start, and would likely lose him before long, but if Blackmore had heard him over the noise of the comms, she should be waiting to head them off and bring them down.

Before Tamara could reply to Gerhardt's comms, another message came over the comm net; listening to it, she factored their information into her next couple of steps and actions. Sounds like we got multiple potential friendlies in the area...gotta' watch out for them, she mused as she flipped the comm switch back over..."Copy that, Hammerstrike appreciate the heads up." Duke said, glad to have some sort of coordination.

"Copy that; sounds like something right up my alleyway, Gerhardt," Tamara replied, quickly getting a beacon fix on his mech and sending him a beacon fix in turn; this was so that she would know where his mech was and so that he would know where her mech was likewise. It was the mechwarrior equivalent of aircraft sending an IFF (Identification-Friend of Foe) signal to an air-traffic control radar. Taking a quick glance at her sensors, she saw all the friendlies in the area and knew she'd have to be careful, especially once she began firing at the hostiles up ahead of them; the absolute last thing any mechwarrior wanted to do was take down a friendly in combat.

Maneuvering her way around the city, she brought up her weapons screen and quickly spun up (read: activated) both sets of weapons her Vindicator carried: 5 medium lasers and a SRM-6 short-range missile array, turning her attention back towards getting into position to hit the mechs' Gerhardt had spoken of. "A Locust and two Powermen", she whispered, adding with laconic humor, "sounds like date night at a Canopian Freak Show back home," taking note as she continued along, taking a quick note of the rioters rampaging through their part of the city. Right as she was about to send a message to Gerhardt about the rioters, she spotted the three mechs, just as advertised - a Locust, a light mech designed for scout and delaying actions, and the two Powerman, mechs more suited for industry and ag-work than for combat, all looking as though they were retreating from Gerhardt's mech which she knew would be to their front. Of course, she mused as she flipped the targeting switch on and began lining up her shots at the hostile mechs, any mech can be used for combat, a cruel fact of war any mechwarrior would their salt knew all too well.

Once the computers had a solution on the nearest Powerman, Tamara flipped open the firing trigger and squeezed down, three of her Vindicator's five medium lasers firing right at the nearest Powerman, following it up with a salvo of armor-piercing SRM's. The weapons found their mark, sending one of the Powerman staggering a bit as the combination of energy and armor-piercing weaponry blasted chunks of armor from its side; once more, she fired - another three laser shots and an SRM salvo - and once more, they found their mark, almost knocking the Powerman down to the ground but also having the effect of forcing the other Powerman - she'd noticed the Locust was down and destroyed, so she ignored that mech - to turn towards her, thus leaving that mech's flank vulnerable to Gerhardt. "Time to go in for the kill, Gerhardt," Tamara said over the comms. "Good shooting on the Locust, by the way; you should have an excellent flanking solution on the second Powerman as he's currently turning toward me," pausing as she maneuvered closer to the first Powerman and knocked it flat to the ground with a full laser salvo.

Giving it a quick once-over to make sure it was no longer a threat to either of them, Tamara brought her Vindicator around past it and focused her attention on the second Powerman, hoping the combination of fear, reputation, the fact that she'd just knocked one Powerman on its' ass...and the fact that a second mech was now closing on the other Powerman's flank, would be enough to either send it running into other friendlies or be enough for it to surrender to them. She was hoping for the latter, but as she focused her mech's weapons on the Powerman, she wasn't about to take any chances.

Paul leaned back against the AC Unit, the sounds of gunfire and the grinding of actuators echoing from the street over the rooftop where he perched. The rainfall was drowned out by the chatter of machineguns, the blazing neon border between the International District and the Black Hills was occasionally washed out by the flash of laser fire. The radio at his hip buzzed into his ear, numerous channels of information crossing and contradicting and shouting with alarm. All the tactics were being discussed on open channels.

He turned his binoculars around towards the Spaceport. Though he was only a few stories up, he could intuitively sense the wall of steel that had formed around the major streets heading into the International district. Everyone instinctively sensed this was an important defensive redoubt, but that was about the limit of the planning. Units were thrusting haphazardly into the streets, shooting anything that moved. Stables with facilities in the city were spewing out their Battlemechs in an attempt to frighten off whoever was pointing lasers their direction. The local authorities were apparently outgunned and completely unprepared. Who knew when a real military response would arrive?

No one was in command. No one had any tally of friend or foe. The streets were being flooded by mercenaries, gladiators, and activists all at once, and no one had any semblance of a strategic objective, other than to perpetrate or persecute a spasm of ethnic and political violence. It was a recipe for unmitigated disaster and a volume of bloodshed that even Solaris City's incessant rainfall would struggle to wash down the gutter.

"This is Professor... Crowe calling mercenary Battlemechs," he spoke, into a handheld, giving it a moment. "Does... anyone out there have a plan?"

Advancing through the International Zone heading towards the Black Hill’s district, the Assault Lance Gyō burēkā (Row Breaker) spread out so that each of the mech’s were walking down their own streets but staying in a line formation. When people saw the two Akuma’s, it was a sight of unknown mechs and caused fear seeing the terrifying heads of them that caused rioters to break away and run. Their was a silence from the Draconis Combine unit’s. Listening to the chatter still going on about reports of casualties, engagements, and positions to where they were at or heading towards. Their was some like the Draconis Combine unit’s that stayed quiet while they operated in the combat field. Tai-i Haru kept her lance moving in radio silence. From time to time, her eyes looked at her map and the one time she did, she saw that the Medium Lance she put at the Starport broke away and was engaging a small rioting force leaving a Stinger a Griffin to stand alone. As she was about to send a transmission to them, she saw the other two units of Hammerstrike along with a Victor moving in to reinforce the gates while five enemy mechs were charging to break the lines. In the back of her mind, she was planning on dealing with her lance for disobeying her direct order of standing guard. But for the current time, she needed her Lances to help clean up the mess that the PDF couldn’t handle. Turning her comm’s to their secure channel and hearing the silence, she spoke up. “Doragonzu no tsume, Burakkuhiruzu e to susumi hajime, watashi no ransu to tsunagarimasu. Kore wa Lyrans to san no ma no tatakaidesu. Watashitachi wa karera o karera no chiku ni ireru tsumoridesu.“ (Dragon’s claw, start advancing to the Black Hills and link up with my lance. This is a battle between the Lyrans and the Sun’s. We are going to contain them in their districts.)

As she saw her medium Lance changing course and heading their way, the Command mech of that Lance radioed in from the Orion. “Tai-i, soreha watashitachi ga Liao no kokkyō no mawari ni jibun jishin o ichidzukenakereba naranai koto o imi shimasu. Sore wa watashitachi ga shite iru kotona no ka, soretomo burakkuhiruzu to shirejia no ryōhō de katsudō shite iru no ka?“ (Captain, that means we have to position ourselves around the Liao border. Is that what we are doing, or are we active in both Black Hills and Silesia?) A silence fell over the radio before she replied back. “Anata no ransu de, burakkuhiruzu to kyasei no ma ni hentai o kunde kudasai. Rengō taiyō ga kyasei ni nyūrō to surunara, anata wa karera no rikigaku o sentō kara chūwa surudeshou. Sore wa wakatte imasu ka?” (With your Lance, take up formation between the Black Hills and Cathay. If the Federated Suns tries to enter Cathay, you will neutralize their mechs from Combat. Is that understood?), “Wakatta.” (Understood) Silence fell again as they kept moving and now entered the Black Hill’s district with the Medium Lance trying to catch up and was gaining ground without them engaging with the rioters. Masumi flipped back to the chaotic filled radio frequency that had the Mercenaries on to listen some more. The Red painted mech’s (blue white and black striped paint on the Hatamoto-Chi Shin’s right arm) of the 95th Royal Black Dragoons were half way through the Black Hills when a guy’s voice came through saying his name was Professor Crowe and he asked if the Mercenaries had a plan. She found it odd that a ‘Professor’ was asking a question like that while mechs and ground forces were busy. Thinking on it and of her words, she spoke in English as she replied to the man.

“Professor Crowe was it? The Mercenary mech’s are acting as law enforcement. That means they are out in the different sections disabling other mech’s or ground vehicles the Rioters are taking. There is some trying to guard the Starport gates. Now, since we all have our duties out here...if your not going to enter the fray and help out, then get off this frequency. The Mercenaries don’t need distractions that could lead to unwanted injuries or death.” Once she was done talking her mind, she turned off her mic. Her lance of Four Assault mech’s marched through and began entering the Cathay district. Changing and tuning the frequency to the Liao military command, she spoke up. “Liao command, this is the 95th Royal Black Dragoons of the Draconis Combine. We are setting up along your border lines to make sure these riots don’t keep flooding your land. That way you can deal with what you currently have at hand. Tai-i Haru Out.”, “Confirmed Dragoons, we appreciate you helping us out with this problem. We will send some of our ground combat vehicles to your positions to help relieve some of the pressure on the front lines. Liao Command Out.” Going through Cathay district, they saw the carnage that the riots were doing to their neighbors and could only imagine how the other districts were holding up. And as promised, a pair of Harassers and two Galleons linked up with them and escorted them to the border of Liao and Lyran. Shortly after they took their positions, Doragonzu no tsume took formation at the Davion and Liao border and radioed in that they were in position.
